Just cause someone doesn’t like you doesn’t mean you have to put up with it, sometimes the person who doesn’t like you in this field your actually helping them. That’s their own personal problem just get away from them after your done doing whatever needs to be done.
As a part of our series about stars who are making an important social impact, I had the pleasure of Eye’z.
Eye’z is an American pop singer and popular performing artist from the San Francisco Bay Area. Making her mark in the music industry, she dropped her “Bizy” and gave fans a taste of what’s to come in her upcoming release, “Sugar” as performed her latest single entitled, “Go for it”, live at the 2023 My Music Block TV Awards, and at the annual COWAPIGLOOSA music festival. Attracting a growing fandom with her exquisitely soulful vocals and vivacious persona in the limelight, Eye’z has been featured on BeTV and WRIGHTPLACETV, and is currently on tour with Cut It Up Entertainment and collaborates with Bread Sticks Records to give to charities.
Thank you so much for joining us on this interview series. Can you share with us the backstory that led you to this career path?
My mother told me I could sing before I could talk, I sang along to classical music then but knew I would have a career singing pop even in preschool. Both sides of my family are into art, my mother sides are very musical and all sing and play piano. I am no exception! LOL
It has been said that our mistakes can be our greatest teachers. Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?
Once, I did a play and everyone used to peek out the curtains and be silly and these were grown men and women like.. in their late 40s! Me a teenager… I peeked out the curtain and someone had the nerve to complain and say stop it they can see you so I said out loud NO THEY CAN’T and the audience said “yes we can” even though the audience laughed I was the only one persecuted for it. I never did anything like that but every single night they did it but when it’s me it’s a problem….
What would you advise a young person who wants to emulate your success?
Well, if you want me to be impressed you have to be wiser than me. So start studying!
Is there a person that made a profound impact on your life? Can you share a story?
So many Gregory Hickman –Williams Sharon Manuel Pamela Kamatoni….
One of the last times I saw Gregory he was very encouraging to my career. I’m so happy I got to grow up next to his talent.
Pam was piano teacher when I was young she was different from all of my previous teachers, she would always ask if I had a song I composed that I wanted to share, that encouraged me to write songs! I love her!
Sharon Manuel is my voice teacher I like her because she lets me talk and patiently waits for me to finish. She taught me to sing both classical pieces blues jazz and pop songs!
How are you using your success to bring goodness to the world? Can you share with us the meaningful or exciting causes you’re working on right now?
Yes, through breadsticks records I am able to donate footages of my performances to raise money for various charities around the world. Including American Humane IFAW we have done more but I love to help positive causes for animals.
Can you share with us a story behind why you chose to take up this particular cause?
Animals don’t seem to have a voice and as a human I don’t always particularly agree with over the top selfish behaviors towards other humans, imagine how an animal must feel! Everyone doesn’t have compassion for life and I know I can’t enforce it so this is the best I can do with where I am today. Also so of the money goes to professional animals who are in movies once again I can totally relate! Animal talent is so special, I had a dong that got to be in a movie with me and whenever the director said action she stood on her hind legs …EVERY SINGLE TAKE she wanted to make sure she was being seen on camera! I was so proud of her!
Can you share with us a story about a person who was impacted by your cause?
I don’t know of an single animal who was affected but as soon as a heard about something that was going on with a natural disaster that affected the animals I asked breadsticks if they wanted to use some other footage of one of my shows to help raise money for IFAW
Are there three things or are there things that individuals, society, or the government can do to support you in this effort?
Yes, my videos are uploaded to breadsticks records along with other artists. If you subscribe and see a video and the charity below please donate
Why do you think music in particular has the power to create social change and create a positive impact on humanity?
Music makes people feel. Good bad indifferent it makes you feel it can move you and inspire you. I think that is the ultimate reason why.
What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started”?
Don’t fall a asleep you might miss your show!
Your beauty schedule might be just as important as all of your music stuff but don’t let it stop you from EVERYTHING.
Get away from your parents. Parents are helpful but also can cause problems and might struggle with not wanting you to make it once they see you get your shine on. Not just parent but friend or family members too. Take some time away just to focus on your career without hearing about their bowel movements, what Claire did in ’78 or whatever it is that doesn’t concern you. It’s way too stressful for an artist.
Always have more than one audio engineer you like.
Just cause someone doesn’t like you doesn’t mean you have to put up with it, sometimes the person who doesn’t like you in this field your actually helping them. That’s their own personal problem just get away from them after your done doing whatever needs to be done.
You’re a person of enormous influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger.
Probably donating to IFAW right now… There are so many positive things including after school programs but I’m not a politician..
We are blessed that some very prominent names in Business, VC funding, Sports, and Entertainment read this column. Is there a person in the world, or in the US with whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch, and why? He or she might just see this if we tag them.
That could be anyone; At first I would say Steph Curry but… I’d probably only talk for like 5 min and take a bunch of pictures LOL I’d be too afraid to eat in front of a professional athlete! But I think I would like to meet Will Wright the creator of the Sims, I’m sure I would have a good time and we could eat eggs Crepes Maybe and talk about the sims maybe but I would have confidence we would do it again!
Thank you so much for these amazing insights. This was so inspiring, and we wish you continued success!
