Woman Philanthropists: Viviana Soldano FaBrizio of Amore for Dogs On How To Leave A Lasting Legacy With A Successful Nonprofit Organization
Being able to turn something I love into something that helps others has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life.
The contributions of women philanthropists have reshaped communities and catalyzed change, yet their stories often remain untold. Women bring unique perspectives and approaches to philanthropy, using their resources, networks, and influence to address a wide range of global challenges — from education and healthcare to social justice and environmental sustainability. How do these women navigate the complexities of philanthropy to achieve meaningful impact? In this interview series, we are talking to diverse women philanthropists who have initiated impactful projects or led significant charitable endeavors, to share their insights and inspire others to take initiative and help solve pressing global and local issues.
As a part of this series, we had the pleasure of interviewing Viviana Soldano FaBrizio.
Viviana Soldano FaBrizio is an Italian-born model who began her career working internationally across Europe, Japan, and Canada, following an early introduction to the fashion industry through her father, designer Sergio Soldano. She has appeared in national and international magazines, campaigns, and fitness competitions, including reaching the national level in figure competition. In 2014, she co-founded the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Amore for Dogs, where she focuses on rehabilitation and the development of her dog sanctuary, which provides long-term care for dogs in need.
Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series! Thank you for making time to visit with us about a ‘top of mind’ topic. Our readers would like to get to know you a bit better. Can you please tell us about one or two life experiences that most shaped who you are today?
I was born and raised in Genova, Italy, and I grew up in a creative environment because of my father’s work in fashion. Watching my parents work hard and stay committed to what they believed in really shaped me. It showed me that with passion and dedication, anything is possible. At the same time, I’ve always had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. That never changed. Over time, that passion became something much bigger and led me to create Amore for Dogs. Being able to turn something I love into something that helps others has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life.
You are a successful leader. Which three character traits do you think were most instrumental to your success? We would love to hear a few stories or examples.
Passion, persistence, and compassion. Passion is what started everything. Without it, none of this would exist. Persistence is what keeps you going, especially on the hard days when things don’t go your way. And compassion is at the center of everything we do. You have to really care. This work is not always easy, but if you believe in what you’re doing, you keep going.
What’s the most interesting discovery you’ve made since you started leading your organization?
That people really do want to help. Sometimes they just need to understand the mission first. Once people see what you’re doing and why it matters, they connect to it. That’s been really powerful to see. Something small can grow into something much bigger when people believe in it.
Can you please tell our readers more about how you or your organization intends to make a significant social impact?
Through Amore for Dogs, we focus on providing a safe, long-term sanctuary where dogs can be cared for. We also support medical care, training, and rehabilitation. We are continuing to build an environment where dogs can feel safe. The goal is to give them a better life and real care.
What makes you feel passionate about this cause more than any other?
My love for dogs. It’s that simple. They are loyal, loving, and they depend on us completely. Knowing that we can make a difference in their lives is what drives me every day. This work brings me a kind of fulfillment that’s hard to explain.
Without naming names, could you share a story about an individual who benefitted from your initiatives?
There are many, but what always stays with me is seeing a dog come from a difficult situation and slowly start to trust again. When you see that change, from fear to feeling safe and loved, it really stays with you. That’s why we do this.
We all want to help and to live a life of purpose. What are three actions anyone could take to help address the root cause of the problem you’re trying to solve?
Support organizations that are doing the work, even in small ways. Adopt instead of buying when possible. And help spread awareness. Even sharing information can make a difference.

Based on your experience, what are the “5 Things You Need To Create A Successful & Effective Nonprofit That Leaves A Lasting Legacy?” Please share a story or example for each.
1. It Must Be Driven By Passion
If you don’t truly care, it will not last.
2. You Need A Mission And A Purpose
You have to know why you are doing it.
3. Attract A Like-Minded Team
You need to attract a like-minded team of dedicated individuals. You cannot do this alone.
4. It Needs To Motivate You Without Pay
This kind of work is not about money, it has to come from within.
5. The Return Of Peace And Tranquility
The return of peace and tranquility are the best payback possible. Knowing you made a difference is everything.
How has the pandemic changed your definition of success?
The pandemic forced us to really look hard at our purpose and it reassured us that the course we are on is exactly what we intended. It showed us that what we are doing is meaningful and that bringing joy to the lives of these animals matters.
How do you get inspired after an inevitable setback?
Life is like a rodeo. One day you are unstoppable, the next day you are face down in the dirt. You pick yourself up, refocus, and continue. Every day you keep going is a day you finish feeling accomplished and thankful.
We are very blessed that very prominent leaders read this column. Is there a person in the world who you would like to talk to, to share the idea behind your non-profit? He, she, or they might just see this, especially if we tag them.
Honestly, anyone who truly cares about animals and wants to make a difference. That’s what matters most to me.
