“I would love to start a movement to get interrelationship courses introduced in schools” With Sami Wunder

I would love to get interrelationship courses introduced in schools. This would include educating young men and women on the basic concepts of building a healthy self-esteem, a sense of self-worth, what it means to have self-respect and respect for others. It’s impossible to have a fulfilling relationship with another unless you possess this solidness yourself.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Sami Wunder, a leading international love, dating and relationship coach whose work on feminine energy has led to 111 marriage proposals/engagements along with helping hundreds more women revitalize their romantic relationships and marriages.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

It was my own struggles with men, dating and relationships that inspired me to dive deep into understanding why some women have it so easy with love and why some others have it so hard. Once I understood, I met and got engaged to my wonderful Christopher within 9 months of meeting him and we have been happily married for 5 ½ years with an adorable toddler who brings us immense joy. But I knew I wasn’t the only well-educated and sensitive woman struggling in love and made the bold decision to quit my job as an international development consultant to launch my love, dating & relationship coaching business. Just two years later, I have announced 109 recorded client wedding engagements.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your company?

I was contacted by the husband of one of my clients to thank me for connecting his wife with her softness. You would normally think that men would respond negatively to love coaching but actually, with the kind of feminine energy coaching and skills my clients learn, it brings value to their men´s lives as well.

Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting?

Choosing my German surname Wunder which actually isn’t my real name but is used for my brand. I decided on it because my husband often calls me a “wunder” (he is German and that is how “wonder” is spelled). The funny part is how often the “u” isn’t noticed right away and clients will struggle to find me on web searches or write me thank-you notes addressed to Ms. Wonder but that’s okay since finding love is one of the world’s best wonders!

Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

Embrace all parts of your success. As I become more well-known, the funny mistake in my name spelling has actually been helpful to my branding.

What do you think makes your company stand out? Can you share a story?

Living my truth by being real, authentic, and imperfect. More than one client has shared with me how much they have appreciated that part of me because it has given them even more confidence in my coaching.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

I have set my business around my private life, not the other way around. At the end of the day, it is my family that will stand by me. I recommend establishing boundaries around client communications and device usage time. I teach my clients balance, feminine energy and self-care, so it is actually extremely important for me to walk my talk by implementing that in my own life first.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

My husband Christopher who believed in me when everyone else thought I was crazy to be quitting a well-paying job as an economist holding an MA in Public Policy. Early on, when I was ready to give up, he said: “I believe in you and all those women need you. You cannot quit. You cannot do this to yourself or to them. You have a gift and you have to share it with the world.”

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Now, with 111 engagements and counting, I know I am truly making a difference in the world and it has all been so worth it. The quality of our romantic relationships hugely impacts our overall level of happiness and satisfaction in life. When men and woman are happy and fulfilled, we are all an asset to everyone we interact with. This is what my work aims to achieve every single day.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Stay hungry, stay foolish” from Steve Jobs. I stay hungry and curious for life, to explore it, to discover it, to be surprised by it. I stay foolish because I never believe I can know enough and so I keep learning and self-reflecting and growing. The journey of inner work never ends.

What are your “5 things I wish someone told me before I started my company” and why. Please share a story or example for each.

1. You don’t need to have a line of certificates to be good at what you do.

Your biggest and best credentials are your own journey by sharing how you have overcome your own obstacles and achieved success. I see many love and relationship experts with a long list of certifications and yet they haven’t had fulfilling love in their own lives.

2. Get help fast and delegate things that are outside your zone of genius.

After I began to experience phenomenal growth, I found myself buried under a pile of admin emails, audience queries, partnership requests and technical tasks. Don’t try to do it all because you can’t! Invest in a team of people who are experts at what they do so you can focus your energy on client achievement.

3. You won’t be able to please everyone, so don’t try.

I tried to please everyone and deliver on every request, irrespective of who it was coming from. I quickly learned this was unproductive because to be successful, you can’t serve everyone. Instead, identify the right clients based on shared goals and sensibilities.

4. Don´t be afraid to be vulnerable.

I wasn’t sure if my clients would lose trust in me if I showed them that I too have situations in which I get frustrated or experience “imperfect” moments in my private life. But, my vulnerability actually endears me to my clients because it is showing my authenticity which gives them more confidence in me and what I am teaching them.

5. Don’t let work overtake your private life.

As an entrepreneur with so much done remotely, it is easy to over-work yourself with an “always online” attitude. Establish boundaries with your clients and associates especially since the whole point of success is to have a fulfilling private life!

You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂
