Social Impact Heroes: Why & How Desiree’ Stapleton Of Goal Accomplishment Made Easy Is Helping To Change Our World
An Interview With Maria Angelova
Build a Supportive Network: Building a supportive network is crucial for personal and professional growth. Having individuals who believe in your vision, provide guidance, and offer support can make a significant difference in your journey. I wish someone had stressed the importance of actively seeking out mentors, accountability partners, and like-minded individuals who can inspire, challenge, and uplift you.
As a part of my series about “individuals and organizations making an important social impact”,I had the pleasure of interviewing Harvard Certified Performance Coach Desiree’ Stapleton.
Desiree’ Stapleton is the Harvard Certified, 2x ’30 Under 30’ Honoree and Forbes ‘Next 1000’ Nominated Performance Coach, Author, CEO, and Creator of Goal Accomplishment Made Easy and the Self-Help App. She teaches women goal-setting and how to overcome obstacles and lead a life of fulfillment, while also providing tools and resources to ensure that they can get and stay on track with hitting their goals.
Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path and point in your life?
Thank you for joining me in this interview series! I’d like to share a story about what brought me to this specific career path and point in my life.
My journey began roughly 36 months ago when I faced a series of challenging experiences that pushed me to reevaluate my life and make difficult decisions. At the time, I was working in a job where I encountered a traumatic experience. Despite the potential risks, I made the courageous decision to speak out about it, even if it meant facing uncertain outcomes. Unfortunately, this led to me being laid off, compounding the difficulties I was already facing.
Simultaneously, my personal life took a hit as my relationship ended, and my ex moved on with someone within our social circle. I felt a sense of abandonment and found myself in a position where I went from a stable income to having nothing.
The aftermath of my decision to speak out was challenging. People distanced themselves from me at my former job, and I faced judgment and whispers from both colleagues and acquaintances. The weight of these circumstances became overwhelming, and I reached a point where I no longer desired to continue living. I found myself driving recklessly, hoping for an accident that would put an end to my pain.
However, in that moment, two powerful thoughts emerged. First, I realized I had a choice: I could either end my life or make it worth living. Second, I questioned why others should thrive while I suffered. These thoughts ignited a newfound determination within me to turn my life around.
I sought therapy to help me navigate my emotions and made a promise to myself: before considering ending my life, I would go after every dream I had ever had. I channeled my pain and frustration into creating my brand called FMYX. My initial focus was on fulfilling my lifelong dream of writing a book. I utilized my savings, took out loans, used unemployment benefits, and even received COVID stimulus checks to hire someone to publish the book. It was a significant milestone when it was published in November of that year.
While my former workplace technically addressed the issue by letting go of the individual involved, I felt that more needed to be done. I decided to take legal action, and to my satisfaction, I emerged victorious. This legal victory held deep meaning for me, as it symbolized my ability to stand up against mistreatment and validate that what had happened was not acceptable.
To sustain myself financially, I returned to the work I had always done and quickly secured three clients. This stability allowed me to focus on my true passion: helping women facing similar challenges to mine. I shifted my focus from FMYX to my personal brand, dedicating myself to teaching women resilience and empowering them to achieve their goals despite life’s obstacles.
As my visibility grew, I began receiving press coverage and was even featured in Forbes Magazine. This exposure enabled me to establish my second company, a boutique consulting firm that provides tools and resources for personal and professional enhancement to everyday individuals. Through my own journey, I learned firsthand the transformative power of setting goals and investing in personal growth.
Inspired by my experiences, I developed The Self-Help App to create a positive and motivating space for individuals to enhance their personal development. This app aims to restore hope and facilitate progress by providing tools and resources for personal growth and goal accomplishment.
I continued to grow personally and professionally, and my business expanded to the point where I could bring on a team. Presently, I am actively planning my move to the west coast and preparing to purchase my dream car in just a few weeks.
I share my story with you to emphasize that no matter what difficulties you face, you possess the inner strength and capabilities to live the life you envision. I want you to know that you are worthy of achieving your dreams and that you have what it takes to overcome any obstacles that come your way. From my own experiences, I can attest to the power of resilience and the importance of never giving up.
Remember, life may throw challenges at us, but it is how we respond and rise above them that defines our journey. Each of us has the power to create a life that is fulfilling, meaningful, and aligned with our true passions and aspirations.
I encourage you to embrace the lessons from my story and let them serve as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, you have the strength to persevere and create your own path to success. Take the first step, gather up what you have, and make a run for it towards your dreams. You deserve to live a life that brings you joy, fulfillment, and purpose.
Thank you for having me in this interview series. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my story and hopefully inspire others on their own journeys.
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you began leading your company or organization?
Certainly! Since I began leading my company, there have been numerous interesting and memorable experiences. One story that stands out involves a collaboration with a renowned expert in the industry.
During a business conference, I had the opportunity to connect with this expert, who had made significant contributions to our field. We engaged in a stimulating conversation and shared our visions for the future. I admired their expertise and accomplishments, and I was thrilled when they expressed interest in collaborating with my company.
Over the following months, we worked closely together, combining our knowledge and resources to develop an innovative project that would revolutionize our industry. The collaboration brought together diverse perspectives, leading to groundbreaking ideas and solutions.
One of the most exciting aspects of this experience was witnessing the synergy between our teams. It was truly inspiring to see how individuals from different backgrounds and expertise areas came together, leveraging their unique strengths to drive progress. The atmosphere was filled with creativity, passion, and a shared commitment to excellence.
As the project evolved, we faced challenges and encountered unforeseen obstacles. However, our collective determination and perseverance kept us focused on finding solutions and pushing the boundaries of what was possible. We celebrated each milestone achieved and learned valuable lessons along the way.
The collaboration culminated in the successful launch of a groundbreaking product that received widespread acclaim within the industry. It was a proud moment for our teams and a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation.
This experience taught me the importance of building strong partnerships and embracing opportunities for collaboration. It reinforced the belief that when diverse minds come together, incredible things can be achieved.
Moreover, it highlighted the significance of nurturing a positive and inclusive work culture. By fostering an environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, and open communication, we can unlock the full potential of our teams and accomplish extraordinary feats.
Overall, this collaboration stands out as one of the most interesting and rewarding experiences since I began leading my company. It serves as a constant reminder of the power of collective efforts, the value of strategic partnerships, and the limitless possibilities that emerge when we come together to pursue a shared vision- it was also the fuel that helped me create our signature program: Goal Accomplishment Made Easy.
It has been said that our mistakes can be our greatest teachers. Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?
Certainly! When I reflect on the early days of implementing Goal Accomplishment Made Easy (GAME), there is one memorable and amusing mistake that comes to mind.
During the initial launch of the Goal Accomplishment Made Easy program, we organized a live webinar to introduce the concept and engage with potential participants. As the host, I was responsible for managing the technical aspects of the webinar, including screen sharing and multimedia presentations.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly until the moment I clicked on the wrong presentation slide. Instead of sharing the planned slide deck, I accidentally displayed a comical image that had no relevance to the content we were discussing. It was a lighthearted and funny image, but it had nothing to do with the webinar’s purpose or objectives.
Initially, there was a moment of confusion as participants wondered what had happened. However, rather than getting flustered, I quickly acknowledged the mistake and took it in stride. I laughed along with the participants, making light of the situation and ensuring that we all had a good laugh together.
In retrospect, this funny mistake taught me a valuable lesson about the importance of maintaining composure and adapting to unexpected situations. Instead of dwelling on the error or letting it throw off the flow of the webinar, I embraced it as an opportunity to connect with the participants on a more personal and relatable level. By acknowledging the mistake, making light of it, and sharing a genuine laugh, we were able to create a more relaxed and engaging atmosphere.
The lesson I learned from this experience is that mistakes happen, and it’s essential to handle them with grace and humor. In moments of mishaps or unexpected turns, embracing the situation and finding the lighter side can help build rapport, foster authenticity, and create memorable connections with others.
This funny mistake also reminded me of the importance of being prepared for technical glitches and having backup plans in place. It reinforced the need to double-check presentation materials and ensure that everything is in order before going live. While mistakes can provide unexpected moments of humor, it’s still crucial to strive for professionalism and maintain a level of preparedness.
Ultimately, this lighthearted mistake highlighted the importance of embracing the human side of leadership and embracing imperfections. It taught me to approach challenges and mistakes with a sense of humor, adaptability, and the ability to connect with others in a genuine and relatable way.
Can you describe how you or your organization is making a significant social impact?
Certainly! Goal Accomplishment Made Easy (GAME) is committed to making a significant social impact by empowering individuals to unlock their full potential and achieve their goals. Our program and resources are designed to provide support, guidance, and tools for personal growth and development, ultimately leading to positive transformations in people’s lives.
One of the ways in which we make a social impact is by focusing on empowering underprivileged individuals who may face barriers to success. We recognize that not everyone has equal access to resources and opportunities, and we strive to bridge that gap. Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations and community outreach initiatives, we provide scholarships and discounted access to our programs, ensuring that individuals from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to participate and benefit from the Goal Accomplishment Made Easy program.
Additionally, we actively promote inclusivity and diversity within our organization and community. We believe that everyone’s voice and experiences should be valued and heard. By fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment, we create spaces for individuals to share their stories, connect with others, and find support on their journey towards accomplishing their goals.
Furthermore, we have a strong emphasis on promoting mental health and well-being. Our program incorporates strategies for self-care, stress management, and building resilience. We understand that achieving goals and personal growth can sometimes be challenging, and it’s essential to prioritize mental and emotional well-being along the way. By addressing these aspects, we aim to create a holistic approach to goal accomplishment and empower individuals to thrive not only in their achievements but also in their overall well-being.
In addition to these efforts, we actively engage with our community through educational content, workshops, and events. We provide valuable resources on various topics, such as productivity, mindset, and personal development. These resources are freely accessible to individuals seeking guidance and inspiration to navigate their personal and professional lives.
Through our commitment to empowering individuals, promoting inclusivity, and addressing mental health, Goal Accomplishment Made Easy is making a significant social impact. We believe that by helping individuals achieve their goals, we contribute to their personal growth, self-confidence, and overall happiness. Our ultimate goal is to create a ripple effect of positive change, inspiring individuals to pursue their dreams, overcome challenges, and lead fulfilling lives.
Can you tell us a story about a particular individual who was impacted or helped by your cause?
Certainly! Let me share a story about an individual named Sophia who was impacted and helped by our cause through Goal Accomplishment Made Easy (GAME).
Sophia came across my Goal Accomplishment Made Easy program during a challenging phase in her life. She had been feeling stuck and unfulfilled in her career, lacking clarity about her goals and unsure of how to make progress. She was longing for a sense of direction and purpose.
Motivated by her desire for positive change, Sophia decided to join the Goal Accomplishment Made Easy program. She immersed herself in the resources, workshops, and community support that we offered. Through the program, she gained clarity about her aspirations, discovered her strengths, and developed an action plan to pursue her goals.
One aspect of the Goal Accomplishment Made Easy program that had a significant impact on Sophia was the emphasis on mindset and self-belief. However, the program provided tools and strategies to challenge those negative thoughts and cultivate a more positive and empowering mindset.
As Sophia continued her journey with Goal Accomplishment Made Easy, she started taking concrete steps towards her goals. She received guidance on setting achievable milestones, staying focused, and maintaining motivation. Through the support of the community, she found accountability partners and mentors who cheered her on and provided invaluable advice along the way.

It is stories like hers that inspire us to continue our mission of empowering individuals to unlock their full potential, accomplish their goals, and lead fulfilling lives.
Are there three things the community/society/politicians can do to help you address the root of the problem you are trying to solve?
Certainly! Here are three things that the community, society, or politicians can do to help address the root of the problem we are trying to solve through Goal Accomplishment Made Easy (GAME):
1. Prioritize Education and Skill Development: By placing a strong emphasis on education and skill development, we can empower individuals with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate their personal and professional lives effectively. This includes promoting accessible and quality education at all levels, as well as offering opportunities for lifelong learning. Society and policymakers can allocate resources to ensure that education remains a priority and that individuals have access to relevant and up-to-date skills training.
2. Foster Supportive Environments: Creating supportive environments is crucial for individuals to thrive and accomplish their goals. Communities can foster an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere where individuals feel safe to pursue their aspirations. Society and policymakers can play a role in implementing policies that support work-life balance, mental health support systems, and resources for personal growth. By recognizing and valuing the importance of well-being and personal development, we can create a society that encourages individuals to reach their full potential.
3. Promote Equal Opportunities: Addressing systemic barriers and promoting equal opportunities is essential in ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to succeed. Society and policymakers can work towards eliminating biases, discrimination, and inequality in various domains such as education, employment, and access to resources. By leveling the playing field, we can create a more equitable society where individuals from all backgrounds have an equal opportunity to accomplish their goals and contribute to their communities.
These three actions — prioritizing education and skill development, fostering supportive environments, and promoting equal opportunities — can significantly contribute to addressing the root of the problems we aim to solve through Goal Accomplishment Made Easy. By working together as a society and embracing these principles, we can empower individuals, cultivate personal growth, and create an environment where everyone has the chance to thrive.
Are you working on any new or exciting projects now? How do you think this might help people?
Absolutely! We are constantly working on new and exciting projects within Goal Accomplishment Made Easy (GAME) to further support and empower individuals on their journey towards accomplishing their goals. Allow me to share one of our current projects and how it can help people.
One of our ongoing projects involves developing a comprehensive online platform that combines all aspects of the Goal Accomplishment Made Easy program into a user-friendly digital experience. This platform will serve as a hub for individuals to access resources, tools, and guidance for their personal growth and goal accomplishment.
Through this platform, users will have easy access to a wide range of educational content, including workshops, courses, and interactive modules. They will be able to explore various topics related to personal development, productivity, mindset, and overcoming obstacles. The platform will provide a structured framework to guide individuals in setting goals, tracking progress, and staying motivated.
Additionally, the platform will feature a robust community component, allowing users to connect with like-minded individuals, find accountability partners, and engage in meaningful discussions. The sense of belonging and support within this community will foster collaboration, inspiration, and the sharing of experiences and insights.
By consolidating all these resources and features into one online platform, we aim to make personal growth and goal accomplishment accessible to a broader audience. It will provide individuals with a convenient and comprehensive resource to enhance their lives, regardless of their geographical location or time constraints.
We believe that this project will help people by offering them a structured and supportive platform to embark on their personal growth journey. It will empower individuals with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to overcome challenges, break through limitations, and achieve their goals. The online platform will create a dynamic and engaging environment where users can find inspiration, learn from experts, and connect with a community that shares their aspirations.
Ultimately, our goal is to make personal growth and goal accomplishment an enjoyable and transformative experience for individuals from all walks of life. We are excited about the potential impact this project can have in empowering people to unlock their full potential, lead fulfilling lives, and make lasting positive changes in themselves and their communities.
What you are doing is not easy. What inspires you to keep moving forward?
Thank you for acknowledging the challenges involved in what we do. Indeed, the path of empowering individuals to accomplish their goals and transform their lives is not always easy. However, there are several factors that inspire us to keep moving forward within Goal Accomplishment Made Easy (GAME).
First and foremost, the stories of individuals who have experienced significant positive transformations through our program inspire us every day. Witnessing someone overcome obstacles, gain confidence, and achieve their goals is incredibly fulfilling. These success stories reaffirm the impact we can make in people’s lives and motivate us to continue our work.
Additionally, the sense of purpose derived from knowing that we are contributing to something greater drives us forward. We firmly believe in the power of personal growth and goal accomplishment to create positive change on both an individual and societal level. By empowering individuals to thrive and pursue their dreams, we are fostering a ripple effect that can lead to a more fulfilled and empowered society.
Furthermore, the ongoing support and feedback we receive from our community and participants fuel our motivation. Hearing how our programs have positively impacted individuals and witnessing the growth within our community reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. The connections and relationships we build along the way are a constant source of inspiration and remind us of the value of the work we do.
Lastly, our own personal journeys of growth and development inspire us to keep moving forward. We understand firsthand the transformative power of setting goals, pushing beyond our comfort zones, and continuously striving for self-improvement. Our own experiences serve as a reminder that the journey is ongoing, and there is always room for growth and accomplishment.
In summary, the inspiring stories of transformation, the sense of purpose in making a difference, the support of our community, and our personal growth journeys all serve as powerful motivators. They remind us that the work we do within Goal Accomplishment Made Easy is meaningful, impactful, and worth every effort. With this inspiration, we remain dedicated to empowering individuals and helping them unlock their full potential on their path towards accomplishing their goals.
What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why?
Certainly! Here are the “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” within the context of Goal Accomplishment Made Easy (GAME), along with stories or examples for each:
1. Embrace Failure as a Stepping Stone to Success: I wish someone had emphasized the importance of embracing failure as a valuable learning experience rather than something to be feared or avoided. Early on in my journey, I encountered setbacks and made mistakes that initially felt discouraging. However, as I gained experience, I realized that failure provides valuable insights and opportunities for growth.
For example, when launching my Goal Accomplishment Made Easy program, we faced challenges in reaching our target audience effectively. Our initial marketing strategies did not yield the expected results, and we struggled to gain traction. However, instead of viewing it as a failure, we embraced it as an opportunity to reassess our approach, refine our messaging, and better understand our audience. This shift in perspective allowed us to adapt and ultimately improve our strategies, leading to better outcomes.
Early on, I underestimated the power of a supportive network. However, as I recognized the value of connecting with others who shared similar aspirations, I actively sought out mentors and joined communities aligned with my goals. These relationships provided invaluable guidance, insights, and encouragement, helping me navigate challenges and stay motivated along the way.
3. Embrace Continuous Learning and Adaptation: I wish I had understood the importance of embracing continuous learning and adaptation from the start. In a rapidly evolving world, staying open to new ideas, seeking knowledge, and adapting to changing circumstances is essential for growth and success.
One memorable example of the significance of continuous learning comes from the development of our online platform. When we initially launched the platform, we received feedback from users about certain features that were unclear or needed improvement. Instead of becoming defensive or resistant to change, we embraced the feedback as an opportunity for growth. We actively sought user input, conducted surveys, and made iterative updates to the platform based on their suggestions. This continuous learning and adaptation resulted in a more user-friendly and effective platform that better met the needs of our community.
4. Trust the Process and Embrace Patience: I wish someone had emphasized the importance of trusting the process and embracing patience. When starting a new endeavor, it’s natural to seek instant results and expect quick success. However, building something meaningful takes time, effort, and perseverance.
Early in my journey, I often became frustrated when progress seemed slow or obstacles arose. However, over time, I learned the value of trusting the process and staying patient. I recognized that progress is not always linear, and setbacks are a natural part of the journey. Embracing patience allowed me to stay focused, persevere through challenges, and appreciate the incremental steps forward, leading to long-term growth and success.
5. Prioritize Self-Care and Well-being: I wish someone had emphasized the importance of prioritizing self-care and well-being. When embarking on a new venture or pursuing ambitious goals, it’s easy to neglect personal well-being in the pursuit of success. However, neglecting self-care can lead to burnout and hinder long-term progress.
Early on, I fell into the trap of prioritizing work over my own well-being. However, as the demands increased, I realized the detrimental impact it had on my overall effectiveness and happiness. I learned to prioritize self-care practices such as exercise, mindfulness, and taking regular breaks. By investing in my well-being,
I found that I had more clarity, energy, and resilience to tackle challenges and make meaningful progress towards my goals.
In summary, the five things I wish someone told me when I first started within Goal Accomplishment Made Easy are: embracing failure as a stepping stone to success, building a supportive network, embracing continuous learning and adaptation, trusting the process and embracing patience, and prioritizing self-care and well-being. These lessons, learned through experiences and reflections, have been instrumental in shaping my journey and the growth of Goal Accomplishment Made Easy. By sharing these insights, I hope to inspire and empower others on their own paths of personal and professional development.

Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?
Certainly! One of my favorite life lesson quotes is from Judge Lynn Toler: “If I waited until I had all my ducks in a row, I’d never get across the street. Sometimes you just have to gather up what you’ve got and make a run for it.”
This quote resonates with me on a personal level because it reminds me of the importance of taking action, even when circumstances are not perfect or when I may feel unprepared. It highlights the notion that waiting for the perfect moment or having everything perfectly lined up can often lead to missed opportunities or stagnation.
In my own life, I have often found myself hesitating to pursue certain goals or aspirations because I felt that I needed more time, more resources, or more knowledge. However, I’ve come to realize that waiting for all the ducks to be in a row can be an endless and fruitless pursuit.
This quote has served as a powerful reminder that sometimes, it’s necessary to gather up what I have, even if it’s not ideal, and take a leap of faith. It encourages me to embrace a mindset of adaptability and resilience, understanding that I can learn and course-correct along the way.
By embracing the idea of making a run for it with what I have, I have been able to pursue new opportunities, start ventures, and achieve personal and professional growth. It has taught me that taking action and being willing to embrace the unknown can lead to remarkable experiences and outcomes that I may not have otherwise encountered.
Ultimately, Judge Lynn Toler’s quote has been a source of inspiration, pushing me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the uncertainties of life. It has taught me that sometimes, the greatest rewards come from taking bold and courageous steps forward, even when all the ducks are not neatly in a row.
When I was at that crossroads 36 months ago and decided not to end my life and to make my life worth living and “go” for every dream I’d ever had, that was the first quote that I saw. And I’ve been running ever since :).
Is there a person in the world, or in the US with whom you would like to have a private breakfast or lunch with, and why? He or she might just see this, especially if we tag them. 🙂
If given the opportunity, two extraordinary individuals with whom I would be honored to have a private breakfast or lunch are Malala Yousafzai and Judge Lynn Toler. Their remarkable achievements, dedication to empowerment, and impact on the world make them inspiring figures in their respective fields.
Sitting down with Malala Yousafzai, the renowned advocate for girls’ education, would be a truly transformative experience. I would cherish the opportunity to learn from her firsthand about her relentless pursuit of educational equality, her unwavering courage in the face of adversity, and her strategies for effecting change. Exploring ways to collaborate and amplify efforts in empowering individuals, particularly girls and women, would be a meaningful part of our conversation. Through her resilience and determination, Malala has ignited a global movement, and her wisdom would undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on my journey within Goal Accomplishment Made Easy.
In addition, sharing a private meal with Judge Lynn Toler, the respected television personality and former judge, would be a remarkable opportunity to delve into topics of conflict resolution, personal growth, and navigating difficult life transitions. Engaging in discussions about effective communication, strategies for resolving conflicts, and empowering individuals during challenging circumstances would provide invaluable insights for both myself and the work we do. Judge Lynn Toler’s expertise in guiding individuals through complex situations with empathy and fairness would offer profound lessons on resilience and emotional well-being.
While the chances of this message reaching them directly may be uncertain, the collective power of admiration, shared aspirations, and the desire to make a positive impact can lead to unexpected opportunities. By expressing my deep respect for Malala and Judge Lynn Toler, I hope to contribute to the dialogue surrounding empowerment, education, and personal growth.
In conclusion, having the privilege of sharing a meal with Malala Yousafzai and Judge Lynn Toler would be an extraordinary honor. Their wisdom, experiences, and dedication to empowering individuals would undoubtedly inspire and enrich my own journey within Goal Accomplishment Made Easy. The lessons learned from these remarkable individuals would guide and shape the work we do, empowering individuals to overcome obstacles, achieve their goals, and create a more equitable and compassionate world.
