Seizing opportunities hinges on our ability to stand out from competitors. This involves thoroughly examining our unique strengths, innovative approaches, or distinct value propositions that can give us a competitive advantage. By emphasizing these differentiators, we position ourselves to capitalize on opportunities within the market.
When it comes to business leadership, challenges are omnipresent. From rapidly changing market dynamics to technological disruptions, executives today grapple with multifaceted issues that directly impact their decision-making and strategic orientations. What really keeps the leaders of today’s corporate world awake at night? How do they navigate through these turbulent times to ensure the growth and stability of their organizations? As part of this series, we had the pleasure of interviewing Amber Moseley.
Amber Moseley has navigated the challenges of confronting not one but two incurable diseases. Her healing journey paved the way for her to integrate innovative technologies into the lives of others. She is currently the CEO and Co-Founder, alongside her sister, of Innovative Wellness Consultants and Quantum Energy Wellness Center.
Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series. Before we dive into our discussion about communication, our readers would love to “get to know you” a bit better. Can you share with us the backstory about what brought you to your specific career path?
My journey into my current career path has been deeply influenced by a pivotal chapter in my life, one marked by the profound challenge of facing not just one, but two incurable diseases. Faced with this seemingly insurmountable adversity, I was compelled to “look outside the box” for alternative solutions. Conventional approaches provided no answers.
It was during this challenging period that I turned inward, listening to my inner self and finding inspiration in the people and messages that God placed in my life. Miraculously, I not only overcame these diseases but discovered a path to healing that went beyond the confines of traditional medicine.
This personal triumph became the catalyst for my current career trajectory. As the CEO and Co-Founder, alongside my sister, of Innovative Wellness Consultants and Quantum Energy Wellness Center, I am now driven by a mission to introduce transformative technologies to others.
You are a successful leader. Which three character traits do you think were most instrumental to your success? Can you please share a story or example for each?
My journey as a successful leader has been shaped by three key character traits that I hold dear: empathy, adaptability, and resilience. Being empathetic has made a real difference in creating a positive team dynamic. For instance, during a tough project, I noticed a teammate struggling and instead of piling on more tasks, I adjusted deadlines and offered extra support. This not only improved their well-being but also boosted team morale.
Adaptability is another essential trait that has helped me navigate the business world. I led my team through a strategic pivot in a rapidly changing market, embracing change and turning challenges into opportunities. Lastly, resilience has been my anchor during setbacks. When the company faced financial constraints, maintaining a positive outlook and instilling confidence in the team allowed us to weather the storm, implement smart measures, and come out stronger. These traits, empathy, adaptability, and resilience, are more than just leadership principles. They are the human touch that keeps the journey vibrant and rewarding.
Leadership often entails making difficult decisions or hard choices between two apparently good paths. Can you share a story with us about a hard decision or choice you had to make as a leader? I’m curious to understand how these challenges have shaped your leadership.
Making a difficult decision as a leader is never easy, and my experience in the spine industry presented me with such a challenge. I had established myself as one of the leading consultants and distributors in the field, training numerous doctors across the USA. However, a pivotal moment arose when I was part of the initial team tasked with bringing doctors to a small company to conduct studies on disc replacement.
The dilemma I faced was whether to stay in the familiar and successful realm of the spine industry or to venture into uncharted territory with a new company. This new endeavor involved educating doctors on transdermal ozone and building a company from the ground up. On one hand, the spine industry was a space where I had already achieved success with a proven track record. Leaving this behind meant walking away from something stable and well-established. On the other hand, the new opportunity spoke to my conviction that the work with transdermal ozone could significantly improve the lives of many people.
The decision required careful consideration of the known and the unknown. Ultimately, I embraced the challenge of starting anew, driven by the belief that the innovative approach with transdermal ozone could make a meaningful difference. This decision marked a significant shift in my leadership journey as I transitioned from a position of maintaining the status quo to one of pioneering change and improvement.
It reinforced the idea that true leadership often involves taking calculated risks, even if it means leaving behind a well-established comfort zone. The decision to pursue uncharted territory shaped my leadership style and emphasized the importance of courageously pursuing transformative opportunities even when faced with the security of a proven path.
What do you believe are the top five concerns currently preoccupying the minds of C-suite executives, and why?
I find myself inclined to rephrase “concern” into “opportunities.” It’s just the way my thought process works. So, here’s my take on the top five concerns or opportunities currently preoccupying the minds of C-suite executives.
- How do we make ourselves different than the competitors?
Seizing opportunities hinges on our ability to stand out from competitors. This involves thoroughly examining our unique strengths, innovative approaches, or distinct value propositions that can give us a competitive advantage. By emphasizing these differentiators, we position ourselves to capitalize on opportunities within the market.
2. Are we ahead of the scope of what the company can do?
I consistently assess how well our objectives align with the company’s capabilities. This ongoing evaluation ensures our goals are ambitious and feasible within the current operational framework. It’s a strategic process to set realistic expectations and align our pursuits with the organization’s potential.
3. Are we on an educational foundation?
A project is only as good as what people know about it. The success of a project is intricately linked to the level of awareness among stakeholders, so I actively work to establish educational initiatives. This involves ensuring that team members and relevant stakeholders are well-informed about the project’s goals, progress, and impact. A well-informed team contributes significantly to the project’s success.
4. How do we build a successful team?
As a leader, I prioritize the development of a high-performing team. This includes ongoing evaluations of strengths and weaknesses within the team. Regular assessments help me identify areas for improvement, foster a collaborative environment, and ensure that the collective skills and capabilities of the team align with the objectives at hand.
5. Do I have the strongest team around me, and what are the opportunities for growth?
I am proactive in identifying growth prospects by conducting strategic analyses. This involves pinpointing areas where success is not only plausible but likely. I also explore potential new markets as part of a comprehensive growth strategy. The aim is to focus efforts on areas with the highest potential for success, ultimately maximizing our overall growth potential.
In the face of rapid technological advancements and market shifts, do you find that you need to constantly recalibrate your strategies to ensure sustained growth?
I find the need to recalibrate my strategies amidst rapid technological advancements and market shifts to ensure sustained growth. The dynamic nature of today’s business environment demands a proactive approach to stay ahead. Regularly reassessing and adjusting strategies allows me to leverage emerging technologies, respond to evolving market trends, and navigate changes effectively. This adaptive mindset ensures that my business remains resilient, competitive, and well-positioned for continued growth in the face of constant industry transformations.
With the emergence of AI, blockchain, and other transformative technologies, how do you determine which tech trends are worth investing in?
In navigating the landscape of transformative technologies like AI and blockchain, I evaluate their investment potential based on several key factors. Firstly, I assess the practical applications and tangible benefits of technology, considering how it aligns with current business needs and industry trends. I also closely examine the scalability and long-term viability of the technology.
Collaboration and partnerships within the industry and the presence of a supportive ecosystem are crucial indicators. Moreover, I stay informed about the regulatory environment to gauge potential hurdles. Overall, investing in a tech trend hinges on its ability to create value, solve real-world challenges, and integrate seamlessly into existing operations.
With increasing digital threats, how are you prioritizing cybersecurity, and what measures are you taking to protect your organization’s assets?
To safeguard our assets, we employ a multi-faceted approach. This includes regular cybersecurity assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities. We invest in robust security infrastructure, such as firewalls and encryption tools, while keeping software and systems updated. Employee training on cybersecurity best practices is integral to creating a security-conscious culture.
We also implement strict access controls and monitor network activity for any anomalies. Regularly reviewing and updating our incident response plan ensures a swift and effective response to potential security breaches. A comprehensive and adaptive cybersecurity strategy is crucial for protecting our organization against evolving digital threats.
As a top executive, how do you manage stress and maintain mental well-being? Do you have any personal practices or routines that help you stay centered?
Managing stress and maintaining mental well-being is crucial for sustained effectiveness. Personally, I have integrated a unique practice into my routine by leveraging the AO device. This innovative tool incorporates an inner voice feature, allowing me to record my thoughts and emotions. The device then analyzes this data, identifying areas of frustration and octave imbalances.
The AO device provides tailored binaural audio frequencies to the brain by pinpointing the specific emotional triggers and their physiological impact. This, in turn, facilitates the balancing of emotional octaves, contributing to a more centered and composed mental state. This personalized approach addresses stress and aligns with my commitment to proactively manage and enhance my mental well-being as a top executive.
What habits or practices have been most instrumental in your personal and professional growth?
For me, learning to prioritize self-care is paramount. Taking the time to pause, whether it’s during the day or simply tuning into my thoughts and bodily signals, has allowed me to cultivate a healthier work habit. This proactive approach helps prevent burnout by ensuring that I periodically step back and recharge.
Furthermore, mastering the art of balance between business and personal life has been a significant challenge, particularly in my role as a CEO. While building and growing a company is undoubtedly fulfilling, I’ve come to recognize that having a harmonious family life is equally essential. Striking this balance contributes to my personal well-being and enhances my overall effectiveness as a leader. After all, what’s the sense of professional success if it comes at the expense of a fulfilling personal life?
The business world is evolving faster than ever. How do you ensure you’re constantly updating your knowledge and staying ahead of the curve?
I prioritize continuous learning to ensure that my knowledge remains relevant and up-to-date. Regularly engaging in industry publications, attending conferences, and participating in professional development programs are integral to my strategy. I also foster a culture of innovation within my team to encourage knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
The importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace has been emphasized more than ever. Do you have any initiatives promoting diversity and inclusion in your organization?
Promoting diversity and inclusion is a core value in our organization. We have established diversity training programs to raise awareness and educate our team on the importance of embracing differences. This ensures that everyone understands the value of diversity and is equipped with the knowledge to contribute to an inclusive environment.
Additionally, we actively engage in recruitment practices that prioritize diversity, ensuring that our hiring processes are equitable and accessible to individuals from various backgrounds. We’ve also established mentorship programs to support and guide underrepresented employees, facilitating their professional development within the organization.
We continually assess and adjust our policies to eliminate biases and promote fairness. By championing these initiatives, we aim to reflect the diversity of the world around us and harness the unique strengths and perspectives that a diverse team brings to the table.
Can you share a piece of feedback or advice you received that significantly altered your leadership approach or philosophy?
A piece of advice that significantly influenced my leadership approach was to “lead with empathy.” Early in my career, a mentor emphasized the power of understanding and connecting with the experiences and emotions of those I lead. This advice prompted a shift in my leadership philosophy. I started actively listening to my team members, considering their perspectives, and acknowledging their strengths and challenges. It reshaped the way I communicated, making it more collaborative and inclusive.
Leading with empathy not only strengthened the bonds within the team but also enhanced overall morale and productivity. It reinforced the idea that effective leadership involves genuinely caring for the well-being and growth of the individuals entrusted to your guidance. This invaluable advice has become a cornerstone of my leadership style, emphasizing the importance of emotional intelligence in fostering a positive and high-performing work environment.
You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂
If I were to initiate a movement, it would be dedicated to advancing global digital literacy and ensuring equitable access to technology. This movement aims to empower individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and geographical locations with the skills and resources needed to thrive in the digital age. The comprehensive approach involves implementing education programs to teach fundamental digital skills, from basic computer literacy to advanced technological proficiency. It also focuses on providing affordable and reliable access to technology, thereby bridging the digital divide.
The movement extends its impact by promoting awareness of cybersecurity practices and digital safety, which is essential for navigating the online world securely. The initiative also promotes the development of entrepreneurial skills and fosters innovation, enabling individuals to actively contribute to the digital economy. By promoting digital literacy globally, this movement seeks to empower people to participate in the digital society, access educational resources, discover economic opportunities, and connect with the world. The overarching goal is to create a ripple effect, fostering positive transformations in education, employment, and innovation, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and equitable global community.
